Peter D. Grimm begins his first term on the Rensselaer County Legislature in 2006. Long active as a community volunteer, this is Grimm's first elective office. For 25 years, his volunteer civic leadership has shown true commitment to Troy and produced great results --- like a more vibrant Prospect Park, cleaner alleys, and more fitting memorials for our veterans.
A resident of Troy for forty-five years, Grimm brings an enthusiasm and confidence in the city's citizen spirit. As a county legislator he hopes to bring greater citizen participation to county efforts.
As a community civic leader, Grimm has concentrated on quality of life issues in Troy, hoping to encourage other volunteers to revamp their surroundings. He founded “Friends of Prospect Park” which has worked tirelessly to preserve and rejuvenate one of Troy's outstanding natural and recreational resources.
Grimm is also a founder of the “Clean Alleys” program, a volunteer effort to focus attention on making Troy's alleys safer and cleaner. He has been involved in many other beautification projects throughout the city and is well known for his efforts in the Washington Park section of Troy.
As a founding board member of the publication, Troy United Ink , Grimm demonstrated the importance of pride in Troy and the strength the community through its neighborhoods. He believes in better communication among groups and will bring that belief to his role in county government, urging that the legislative process be more open and accessible to the public.
Grimm is a successful business leader having managed the Seranak resort estate, owned the Spyro Gyro Café & Restaurant, and founded the Old Daley Inn catering service. He is currently employed at Tanglewood in charge of special projects. One of nine children, Grimm is a graduate of HVCC. |
